About Me

Ashleigh Inglesby is a graduate of The Ohio State University, where she earned a degree in English with a concentration in creative writing. She worked for four years in the Thompson Library’s Rare Book Room and spent many hours in its vault, where she developed a deep appreciation for literary history and book preservation. For five years in her university’s creative writing classes, she edited her peers’ writing while learning how the editorial process works. These workshops included a variety of genres of poetry, short stories, and chapter excerpts from novels. Ashleigh’s now moved on to editing professionally. She works currently as an academic library’s assistant, and freelance editor, her clients including USA Today bestsellers Eliza Knight, Michelle Brandon, and Eva Devon. Passionate about stories in all forms, Ashleigh plans to pursue a master’s degree in library science, with the goal of making rare and forgotten books more accessible to readers.

How It Works

Hello, fellow literary artists! I look forward to reading your work and assisting you in the process of developing your art. When you’re ready, click the “Get Started” button to choose your preferred service.

How It Works:

1. You’ll fill out the Google form in the “Get Started” button for your specific project, and then I will email you to discuss pricing, payment, types of edits, and other project details. If I end up not being the editor for you, I can recommend others who may fit what you’re looking for.

2. We’ll sign a contract to protect your work and privacy, and give an estimated time your work will be reviewed.

3. You’ll send payment, and your work in Times New Roman, 12pt font, double-spaced, with 1in margins. The name of your document should be the title of your work and your name.

4. Once I’ve received both the payment and your work, I will send confirmation of both and our agreed upon date of return, and then get started!

5. Once editing is complete, I’ll send back your edited work, following the timeline in our contract, and you can reach out with any questions you may have for a complimentary follow up via email.

Author Testimonials

“Ashleigh started as my assistant in 2016, and moved into proofreading and then editing my novels in 2020. Ashleigh has edited over a dozen of my novels across multiple genres, and she’s become an essential part of my process. She has an incredible instinct for story, and knows exactly where to push deeper emotionally, where a scene needs more texture, and where to heighten the language. She’s especially talented at layering in detail and using rhetorical devices that elevate the writing. Every book I’ve worked on with her has been stronger because of it.” —Eliza Knight, USA Today bestselling author of CONFESSIONS OF A GRAMMAR QUEEN

“Ashleigh has a great over all sense of story, is meticulous and helps to make chapters shine. Ashleigh gives essential feedback! I love the way she tightens a story. Ashleigh gives professional editorial insights that help build a brilliant book!” —Eva Devon, USA Today bestselling author of THE DUKE’S ABSOLUTELY SAUCY SPINSTER
